A cultural journey through Dalarna

Dalarna Culture route is a captivating journey on which you’ll visit nine places that have played an important role in Swedish history. The Culture Pass gives the holder special benefits at each location. When using one of these benefits, the holder gets a stamp in the Culture Pass. Visiting all nine locations will be rewarded with a special Dala horse as a gift.

Dalarna, Sweden in miniature

The world-famous Swedish horse is from Dalarna

The Dala horse became world-famous at the 1939 New York World’s Fair and has been a Swedish icon ever since. The wooden horse can be bought everywhere in Sweden, but it has its roots in the village of Nusnäs outside of Mora in Dalarna. The Dala horse is hand-carved and then hand-painted in the traditional folk art style Dalarna is known for, called ‘kurbits’.
